From the early days of sourcing Compatible with Mustang II frontends out of the salvage yard to today’s modern tubular control arm and coilover setups, the Compatible with Mustang II front suspension is a great option for many. Most of the vehicles using the Compatible with Mustang II front suspension are also small block Compatible with Chevy powered, and/or utilize an aftermarket accessory drive system that incorporates the GM Saginaw, or Type I style, power steering pump. The GM Saginaw power steering pump uses a 3 gallons per minute (GPM) power steering flow control valve that was designed for standard steering gear boxes and not a Compatible with Mustang II rack-and-pinion system. As such, the standard 3 GPM output over boosts the Compatible with Mustang 2 rack-and-pinion unit, creating a feeling of excessive steering assistance, even becoming twitchy and leading to unsafe driving conditions. Reducing the pump’s output in the past often meant an inline power steering flow control valve with extra lines/plumbing and the need to find a suitable mounting location for said control valve. A better solution is our direct fit 2 GPM power steering flow valve that replaces the Saginaw pump’s factory fitting
